Akpan signs new NYRB contract

New York Red Bulls have signed Andre Akpan to a new deal.

The 26-year old striker was out of contract following the 2013 MLS season but has penned a fresh deal with the Red Bulls. Per League and team regulations, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are pleased to come to an agreement with Andre," said Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh.

"Andre exhibited this year that he can provide us with a solid goal-scoring option. He is a very good professional and we look forward to him developing as a striker in 2014."

Akpan joined New York from Colorado Rapids in March this year and made seven league appearances during the season.
