Nathan Ake has stated that Watford were deserved victors over Liverpool on Sunday.

Watford claimed a comprehensive 3-0 win over the Reds at Vicarage Road and while the first goal was a contentious one, the Reds could have no complaints whatsoever about the final result.

Left-back Ake, who scored the opener, was one of the star performers for Watford during the clash and believes that the Hornets thoroughly deserved their victory.

Ake told Hornets Player HD: "It feels really good and of course everyone is happy. I think we deserved it as well, we created chances, we defended well, especially in the first-half, so I'm really happy.

"It was really important to get an early lead, it gives you a boost and confidence. After that we kept pushing on and after the second goal we kept the pressure up and I think that helped.

"It was important to keep them off the ball and we did that. The second-half was a bit more difficult, the last 20 minutes or so, but after the third goal it was finished."
