Ake return could save Chelsea entering transfer market

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has suggested that Nathan Ake will save the Blues entering the transfer market this month after returning from his loan spell at Bournemouth.

The 20-year-old signed a season-long loan deal at Bournemouth last summer, but has impressed so much, Chelsea have triggered a clause to bring him back early.

He said: "I think he can play in different roles and for us it is very important to have a player who can do that. This situation makes me more calm in the January market.

"For me he can play as a central defender, left, also in the middle. He could play also as a wing-back.

"It's important now for him to work with us. He has been with us for only a few days. It's important now for him to go into our side of football. To adapt.

"In the (last few) days I tried him as a central defender (in training). It is important to have about of time for him to know him better. Also, to try to find the best position for him.

"He has a good personality, he is mature. He will stay with us. But it is not a gift because I don't like to give gifts to players. If someone comes back it is because they deserve it.

"If we need to improve our squad we will go into the market. If there isn't this possibility we will continue with the squad I am pleased to work with my players."
