Former Vitesse midfielder Evgeniy Levchenko believes Ajax whiz Frenkie de Jong should move to "Liverpool or Tottenham".
Levchenko believes De Jong isn't ready for the elite level of Barcelona or Manchester City.
"He is mentioned at Manchester City, or Barcelona, everywhere, I think there has been contact somewhere," said Levchenko on Studio Voetbal. "De Jong is 21 and at such an age you can see him in a better competition, he is a complete player.
"I would say: make an intermediate step. He should not immediately go to Barcelona. We have seen Luis Suárez. He made an intermediate step at Liverpool. That is not such a big step as Barcelona.
"Let's look at it for real: is he going to play at Barcelona? I do not think so, so he has to make an intermediate step.
"Liverpool, but also Tottenham, for example, where he is going to play, he has outgrown the Dutch competition, so it's better to go, it's too easy."
