Middlesbrough face competition from Ajax for Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour.

The youngster is a January target for Boro boss Gareth Southgate, who has had the Belgian scouted in action against Liverpool and Everton this season.

Ajax are also following Defour and have already registered their interest with Standard.
