Tadic hints at Ajax tactical approach: Liverpool still strong despite injuries

Ajax midfielder Dusan Tadic expects Liverpool to be as strong as ever this week.

Ajax go to Anfield for the penultimate game of their Champions League group sitting in second place, two points behind leaders Liverpool. The Dutch giants warmed up for the game with a thumping 5-0 win at FC Emmen and now sit two points clear at the top of the Eredivisie table.

Waiting at Anfield is an injury hit Liverpool, with James Milner the latest casualty. The veteran collected a hamstring strain in the draw at Brighton on Saturday. Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is also without midfield trio Xherdan Shaqiri, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Trent Alexander-Arnold is now working his way back, while Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk are undergoing rehab after knee operations.

Despite the setbacks at Liverpool this season, former Southampton attacker Tadic told AD via Voetbalzone: "They have a wide selection with a lot of quality.

“We only have to look after ourselves. We have played very well in the last three or four games. Now it is important to maintain the momentum, by continuing to do the things that we do best and to remain so consistent."

Interestingly, Tadic hinted at an approach of taking advantage of any fatigue Liverpool's players were suffering.

He added: "It is too early to compare us to two years ago. Then we remained stable. We made opponents weak and tired. We have to try that again now."
