Ajax chief Marc Overmars expects Manchester City to soon make a bid for Frenkie de Jong.

The Holland midfielder is a long-term target for Barcelona, while City have also been linked with the youngster in the Catalan press.

Now Algemeen Dagblad is reporting City are preparing to make an opening bid for De Jong.

The midfielder is among City's "exclusive list of 'top transfer targets'" and Overmars is well aware of their interest.

An opening offer of €70m is being readied by City for De Jong, 21, who is tied to Ajax until 2022.
