Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel has welcomed interest from Chelsea.

Chelsea are thought to be leading the chase for van der Wiel, but the full-back admits he is in the dark over the rumours.

"I didn't hear anything from my manager, I think it is just rumours and we will see in the future what comes," van der Wiel told Sky Sports News.

Asked if he would be interested in a move to Chelsea, van der Wiel added: "Yeah of course I would, it is a beautiful club.

"I watch a lot of English football and they won the Champions League and it was a great performance."
