According to his agent Hakim Slimani, Manchester City are tracking Ajax defender Gregory Van der Wiel. The right-back has impressed since making his debut towards the end of the 2006/07 season, however it was not until last term that the 21-year-old firmly established himself in the Ajax first-team.
City boss Mark Hughes could look at Van der Wiel to provide competition with Pablo Zabaleta for the position.
"There is no official contact between Ajax and Manchester City, " Slimani told Voetbal International.
"But I cannot deny that his performance has been closely followed by Manchester City."
But Slimani highlighted that his client was not looking for a move: "That's why Greg is not concerned with a transfer to another club.
"He's just broken through last season. This season he has set himself the target of being a major player for Ajax."
