Ajax defender Jurrien Timber insists Louis van Gaal didn't talk him out of a move to Manchester United.
It was claimed the former United manager had urged Timber not to make the move.
But he said, "Like the national coach advised me not to go to United. I spoke with Van Gaal during the last international match. He did not say: stay with Ajax, because if you make too few minutes, there is less chance that you will go to the World Cup.
"He just said, and I feel it myself, that if I make a choice, he knew I was going to make minutes there too.
"You never know for sure, but I have that confidence too. That's also what you base your choice on. The national coach expresses his confidence in me. He does not say at all: beware of this or that club."
