Ajax coach Erik ten Hag would welcome an approach from Tottenham about the manager's job.
It's said however that Spurs did not follow up on their interest in the coach after initial discussions with him.
And the report adds it would be tough for the north Londoners to convince Ajax to part ways with Ten Hag so close to pre-season if they were to go back for him.
The Dutchman is among the favourites to become Spurs' new head coach, but he's joined by more realistic company.
