Ajax chief Edwin van der Sar is being lined up for a return to Manchester United.

Sky Sports UK says Van der Sar is in advanced talks to take the director of football post at United.

The Dutchman won the Champions League with United and has been working at Ajax in various roles, including general manager.

Should the deal go through, Van der Sar will become the first ever director of football appointed by United.

The former goalkeeper is close to United vice-chairman exec Ed Woodward.
