Ajax coach Martin Jol is chasing Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy.

The Mirror says McCarthy is on the hit-list of Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam - his first club.

The South African hitman could be going back to Holland, where he was first 'discovered,' as Ajax look for a new goalscorer.

McCarthy was axed by Rovers chief Sam Allardyce at the weekend and he has dropped to fourth in the pecking order at Ewood Park.
