Sunderland remain favourites ahead of West Brom for ENPPI wing-back Ahmed Al-Muhammadi.
The Sunderland Echo says the Black Cats are favourites to sign the Egyptian international, whose preferred destination is Sunderland.
But parent club ENPPI are looking at the fee they can get for allowing the player to come to England and they believe that Albion are ready with a bigger offer.
Sunderland, however, still remain in the driving seat for Al-Muhammadi, who is due in England for talks this week, but any move is likely to involve more horse-trading than originally expected.
