The agent of Olympique Marseille winger Florian Thauvin believes Newcastle United were the wrong Premier League club for the France international.

Thauvin had an ill-fated spell at Newcastle before leaving for OM, where he has rebuilt his career.

Jean-Pierre Bernes told Le Phoceen: "Let's say Newcastle may not have been the best club choice, with a lot of problems and coaches changing frequently.

"And then it is never easy to impose yourself abroad, there are no guarantees. In very big clubs, there are structures and an organisation that puts players in the best conditions, while elsewhere, you can quickly feel lost.

"If the sports results are bad, we find ourselves in difficulty, especially foreigners."
