Roma wanted to sell Cristian Chivu to a club abroad ahead of his move to Inter Milan.

Agent Victor Becali lifted the lid on the negotiations for the 2007 move.

He told Pro Sport: "Cristian's move from Roma to Inter was my most difficult negotiation, because there were problems between the teams. There were great offers from Barcelona and Real Madrid and Roma preferred to send him abroad.

"Several thousand Giallorossi supporters called him a traitor in the first meeting of the season."

Chivu is now a youth coach with Inter.
