AC Milan are competing with Napoli for Empoli midfielder Mirko Valdifiori.
Valdifiori is expected to leave Empoli this summer.
"I haven't spoken directly to anyone from Napoli," agent Mario Giuffredi told Radio Marte.
"There was a meeting between the two clubs but I've never been contacted. Milan like the player too, the Rossoneri leadership met with Empoli.
"Milan were after the player first, but now Napoli have moved forward very quickly.
"Until two weeks ago [Napoli sporting director Riccardo] Bigon wasn't tracking the player. It's right that the two clubs talk first.
"Valdifiori is owned by Empoli, and it's right that the clubs talk first because Empoli are the biggest stumbling block.
"I'm convinced that he'll play for a big club next year."
