The agent of River Plate midfielder Exequiel Palacios says a move to Real Madrid could yet happen.

The young Argentine was due to join Real last year, only for injury to wreck the plans.

Renato Corsi told AS: "It is true that the operation was completed, but the player was unfortunately injured and Madrid told us that they would continue to watch him when he was recovering ... Palacios was unlucky, but he was always a very happy boy who is ready to face obstacles.

"The priority of Real Madrid, after the results obtained this year, was to bet on bigger players. Real Madrid is a very good team and has done very well with Exequiel.

"Madrid knows he's a great player and in football you never know, maybe, in the future ... In this sport, there are always new opportunities and if nothing comes from Madrid, maybe there will be other opportunities."
