The agent of Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek admits Real Madrid were keen on his signing.
Van de Beek moved United last month from Ajax.
Guido Albers told Ajax Life: "Several clubs contacted me, one of them was Real Madrid.
"There was talk of a transfer for last summer, but Ajax were against it. In the end, he stayed, but we were prepared for a transfer for the following year.
"The papers were already signed. Real Madrid had come to Amsterdam in December or January. It was 100% done..."
Albers says European football's shutdown eventually saw the move collapse.
