Giuseppe Rossi had hoped to re-sign for Fiorentina before joining Real Salt Lake.
Rossi signed for the MLS franchise in February after being without a club since 2018.
“I have never hidden his desire to return to Fiorentina," agent Andrea Pastorello told Casaviola.
“Unfortunately, he never had the opportunity.
“There had been contact with [CEO Joe] Barone and [Sporting director Daniele] Prade, but we never had an opening from the club."
