Agent Giuliani exclusive: Arsenal hero Sylvinho ready for next challenge after Lyon spell

Tribal Football has had the chance to speak exclusively with Nicola Giuliani, founder of Giulianisportltd, about his client, former Barcelona and Arsenal star Sylvinho.

After retiring from his illustrious playing career, the former left-back began his apprenticeship in management in his native Brazil before joining Roberto Mancini's backroom staff at Inter Milan.

A spell working with the Brazilian national team resulted in Sylvinho being named as manager of Lyon in 2019. His time in France only lasted five months, but Giuliani insists the experience has allowed Sylvinho to grow.

He said: "I personally consider Sylvinho one of the most technically prepared young coaches, thanks to the experience gained with football masters, like (Pep) Guardiola, they won a Champions League together at Barca. Not only that, Arsene Wenger at Arsenal and Roberto Mancini first at City as a player and then as his second at Inter Milan. Is it time for him for a big call to come?

"In reality, an important call has already arrived, that of Olympique Lyonnais, although unfortunately it was a short and unfortunate experience, but on the other hand in the beginning these kind of things can happen because everyone needs to gain experience to grow."

A brief parenthesis on the Lyon bench, then, but it wasn't enough to see him at work and to see him develop his ideas.

Asked about what kind of coach Sylvinho is, Giuliani replied: "He is a coach who knows the most important leagues in Europe, he played and coached in the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A.

"But let's not forget that he worked as head coach of the Brazilian national team under 23 and then was made the second of Tite in the national team A. I think he can be considered one of the greatest connoisseurs of the Brazilian market and above all one of the young talents ready to bring important capital gains to any club."

And Giuliani expects Sylvinho to make a return to management in the near future, adding: "Yes, I think the right call will soon arrive and he will finally be able to express all his value as a coach,"

Let's not forget that Sylvinho worked with Mancini, today the coach of the Italian national team and one of the best coaches in the world. And Giuliani believes Mancini's trust in Sylvinho illustrates the 46-year-old's coaching ability.

"Having worked with Mancini who today represents the top is certainly a great point in his favour," Giuliani says.

"With Mancini he has learned not only how to manage the group, but also the tactical secrets of one of the most prepared coaches in the world. And if Roberto has bet on Sylvinho it is only because he saw something important in him and he is hardly wrong."
