The sacked Real Madrid coach announced this week that he would not be returning to Milan.
"(Adriano) Galliani tried everything to convince him, but Carlo was stressed by the Real Madrid dismissal," Bronzetti told Milan Channel.
"He wavered a few times and I did not try to force his hand, because without motivation he would've only hurt Milan.
"Ancelotti did not think about money, though Galliani put everything at his disposal. We had started to talk about a few reinforcements, but Carlo didn't feel up to it.
"I would not be surprised if a tear rolled down his cheek when he finally had to say no to Galliani."
