The agent of AC Milan midfielder Samu Castillejo says the Italian giants were desperate to land him.

Castillejo joined the Rossonero in the summer from Villarreal.

“Samu's very happy with how his first period at Milan is going," the representative told Calciomercato.com.

“He's been really impressed by what the Rossoneri are about. I have to say that the lad was fantastically received by the Coach, club and his teammates.

“Of course when all these components are so strong and important, the rest comes more easily.

“He's been friends with [Mateo] Musacchio from their time together at Villarreal, but he also knew Suso and several others.

“He's working to become a starter, that's his objective, but it's the Coach who decides. He's a gifted winger with great pace and technique.

“He knows how to take his man on, but above all he's a lad who isn't afraid of anything. He knows how to take his responsibilities on and off the field.

“I can confirm that there were several clubs after him, but Milan had been following him for some time and went out of their way to sign him."
