Agbonlahor back, Vlaar and Cole a chance as Aston Villa prepare for Arsenal

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert gave an injury update on Friday afternoon as his side gets set to face Arsenal on the weekend.

The 15th-placed Villans travel to the fifth-placed Gunners on Sunday and could have three key figures back in the line-up after varying absences.

Forward Gabby Agbonlahor missed the FA Cup win over AFC Bournemouth on the weekend with a hamstring problem, as did midfielder Joe Cole, while captain Ron Vlaar has missed about a month with a knee problem he sustained on New Year's Day.

As Villa amp up their preparation for the trip to north London, Lambert spoke of the chances he gives each of the trio in being present at the Emirates Stadium.

"Gabby is fit. He's trained the last day or so. We will just make sure that his hamstring is okay," Lambert told the club's official website.

"If everything goes tomorrow, he will definitely be in the squad.

"We just have to watch him with that hamstring because we have a lot of games coming up. We will check how he is.

"Ron trained this morning. Joe trained this morning.

"We need to have a little look to see how they are."
