After Messi rap, Pique held up by Barcelona coach Valverde about form

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde is becoming increasingly fed up with Gerard Pique's antics.

Valverde took the job this summer with concerns over Pique and had pushed to sign an experienced centre-half to eventually succeed the Spain international. And this season, Valverde's worries have been realised.

Don Balon says the coach is aware of Pique's late night habits, with news of the player staying out until 5am at night clubs when required to attend La Masia training from 9am reaching him.

Valverde has already pulled aside Pique to demand he show greater commitment - a move which also has the support of the locker room.

And the decision has already been made: Pique is playing on borrowed time. While Samuel Umtiti's injury has earned a reprieve, a replacement for Pique will be signed next year, with the veteran to be eased out of the club.

Today's developments comes on back of news yesterday that Lionel Messi also had spoken with Pique after the draw with Celta Vigo about his nocturnal habits.
