Adelaide United ready to avenge last season's bottom placing - Pantelis

Adelaide United vice-captain Lucas Pantelis says the club is ready to avenge last season's disappointing bottom placing.

The Reds experienced their worst campaign in the A-League, slumping to the foot of the table, but Pantelis is feeling more positive ahead of the 2010/11 season which kicks off tonight at Hindmarsh Stadium against the Newcastle Jets.

"They have every right to say that after how disappointed we were last year in finishing bottom," Pantelis said in regard to media predictions.

"I didn't think we were a bottom side last year, I thought we were better than that, but this is a totally new season and we want to prove a lot of people wrong.

"Not too many teams would fear us and that's something we have to gain back because in the first few years of the A-League we were feared, and finishing bottom last year we know there is a lot of pressure to prove ourselves.

"It's going to be very exciting…to finally get out there tomorrow night and play in Round 1, it's what we've been looking forward to."
