Adelaide United and coach Aurelio Vidmar have been nominated for Asian football awards. The Reds are in the Asian Club of the Year award category with three other teams, Uzbekistan's Kuruvchi and Japan clubs Urawa Red Diamonds and Asian Champions Gamba Osaka whilst Vidmar has been nominated for Asian Coach of the Year along with Gamba boss Akira Nishino and Iran futsal coach Hossein Shams.

There is also a category for National Team of the Year in which Australia along with Japan and Saudi Arabia have been named as contenders.

The nominations are testament to the success of the club in Asia this season and pave the way for other Australian clubs to follow.
