Adelaide United lose Flores to Chinese club

Adelaide United's Argentinean playmaker, Marcos Flores, has signed a deal with Chinese Super League Club Henan Jianye. Flores notched up 31 games and 8 goals for the Reds in his time in Australia, winning Australian football's highest accolade, the Johnny Warren Medal. Despite becoming a prominent figure among the Adelaide United faithful, Flores has signed to play with Henan Jianye and last Friday asked to be released.

The Adelaide United Board was not in favour of releasing Flores, keeping the midfielders marquee deal on the table until Saturday morning however Marcos advised the club he did not intend to remain in Adelaide and intended to take up the offer from China.

While disappointed to lose a player of Flores' calibre Head Coach Rini Coolen has been around professional football long enough to know player departures are a part of professional football and says Flores is the perfect example of the development players can achieve by playing with Adelaide United in the Hyundai A-League which is now a great platform for players to showcase their talents on the world stage.
