Adelaide United defeated the South Australian state team 4-0 in a pre-season friendly last night.

Played at Hindmarsh Stadium, the Reds took the lead in the 28th minute through young striker Francesco Monterosso before midfield recruit Adam Hughes doubled the lead four minutes later.

The former Drogheda United man then added his second and the teams third in the 72nd minute before defender Scott Jamieson capped off the win with a cracker from 30 metres five minutes from time.

Adelaide were without many first team players but still managed to put a quality eleven out on the park which will hold them in good stead for the upcoming A-League season.
