Adebayor is destroying his soul at Tottenham – Redknapp

Ex-Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has criticised striker Emmanuel Adebayor for his failure to find a new club in the transfer window.

Spurs were desperate to offload the 31-year-old during the summer but a move to West Ham United failed to materialise on deadline day after the striker demanded a £5million payout to cancel the remainder of his contract at White Hart Lane.

The Togo International has been training with the reserves for some time now and Redknapp believes it must be soul-crushing for the player

Redknapp said: "You'd think he would have moved on. He's a talent and you would think he'd want to go and play. He's just sitting around at Spurs.

"They're obviously arguing over a fair amount of money, but someone has got to give way because Tottenham have got to keep paying his wages now.

"He's not even got a squad number, so he's got no chance of playing for Spurs this season.

"He would have been better off going somewhere. Training with the kids every day must be soul-destroying."
