Adam Webster 'over the moon' after penning new Brighton contract

Adam Webster has signed a new five-year contract with Brighton.

A few days after Ben White's £50m departure for Arsenal, Brighton have secured the long-term future of another of their centre-backs by tying Webster down on an improved deal that will run until 2026.

Webster, 26, was two years into the four-year agreement he signed following his club record £22m transfer from Bristol City in 2019.

Webster said: "I am absolutely over the moon to sign a new deal. As soon as I heard there was the potential for me to sign a new contract I was thrilled and I am pleased to get it done. Now I can focus on the new season.

"The club have shown a lot of faith in me to bring me here in the first place, to reward with me a new contract is amazing and I can't wait for the next five years.

"It's an easy project to buy into, without a doubt. You can see the way the club is going and everyone is pulling in the right direction, it's a great place to be. It's a fantastic place to come and work every day, to work to improve."

Brighton head coach Graham Potter said: "Adam has been a really important figure for us on and off the pitch, so I am delighted to see him commit to the project we have here.

"Adam was one of the first players to sign after my coaching staff and I joined the club two years ago and I am delighted with his development in that time. He has captained the team on a few occasions which is a real testament to his qualities."
