Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam is determined to keep his place in manager Mark Hughes' starting XI.
Adam's own future has been on the agenda, defeat to Newcastle was only his second start in the Premier League this campaign, coming just 48 hours after his first – a 5-0 defeat at Chelsea.
The 32-year-old midfielder wants to stop and play his own part in pulling the Potters out of the fire.
“My situation is that when I'm not playing I want to be playing," he said.
“I want to play and if I'm not playing here I find it difficult. But I'm here for the fight, I'm up for helping us get out of a relegation scrap because that's what we're in. We're in a dog fight and we need the right players to get us out of that mess.
“If I'm playing I feel like I can contribute and get us out of this trouble."
