Acquisition of ex-Boca Juniors full-back delights Columbus Crew boss

Columbus Crew head coach Gregg Berhalter was over the moon after landing Hernan Grana on Friday.

The 29-year old Argentine full-back joined the Crew from homeland club All Boys pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 visa.

Grana spent time on loan with Argentina giants Boca Juniors last year and will bring with him to Crew Stadium plenty of experience and know-how which Berhalter is excited about.

"In our system, the full-backs need to be attacking-oriented and we've certainly seen that in the past from him," Berhalter told reporters.

"He was playing for the top club in Argentina, and that's always a tall order. There's a lot of pressure associated with playing for Boca Juniors.

"He can teach the younger players. When you watch his positioning on the field, it's excellent.

"When you look at his anticipation and movement and defensive position, it's very good. We talk about having young defenders, and he's certainly someone that can help with that and help teach that."
