John Coleman was disappointed after his Accrington Stanley side went down to a 3-2 Carling Cup defeat against Newcastle. More than 4,000 supporters turned out at the Crown Ground as Stanley ran their Barclays Premier League visitors close.
"I'm proud of the fans but I'm disappointed with the performance," said Coleman. "We can play better than that and the players will tell you that themselves.
"We defended appallingly at times and we didn't pass the ball anywhere near as well as we can do. I think we got a bit of stage fright if truth be known.
"Anyone who knows me knows I hate getting beat. If we were playing Real Madrid, Barcelona or Spain I'd be disappointed losing because I think we can beat anyone at home."
