AC Milan are pushing to land Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Montolivo.
Montolivo has been sacked as Viola captain after refusing to sign a new deal.
The Rossoneri have sent a proposal to Fiorentina for 5.5m plus co-ownership of Italy Under-21 international striker Alberto Paloschi.
That would take the total value to 8m, but the Viola turned down this offer, as they have set the price-tag at 10m.
