AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has taken a swipe at the media over their attitude towards Karim Benzema.

Ibrahimovic says the Real Madrid striker deserved to win the Ballon d'Or.

He told Canal+: "Now that he has won the Ballon d'Or, what do the journalists say?

"During the World Cup in Russia I said that Benzema deserved to be in the national team, the French journalists attacked me.

"Now that he has won the Ballon d'Or, I'd like to know what they think."

Ibra also says Milan teammate Olivier Giroud should be in France's World Cup squad.

He added, "Yes, he is a winner and a serious person. He is not one who will ever score 40 goals a year, but he brings that something to the team that others don't. He is not self-centred, he plays for everyone. When he arrived he gave a great hand to the team and did great things."
