AC Milan step up interest in Chelsea defender Gary Cahill

AC Milan are stepping up their interest in Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.

Chelsea are prepared to allow Cahill to leave on loan in January to secure more regular first-team football.

But the Blues would prefer a permanent deal and AC Milan could be a tempting destination for the 32-year-old.

The Rossoneri are in the midst of a defensive injury crisis ahead of next weekend's showdown with Lazio.

Corriere dello Sport says Milan could make a January bid for Cahill to bolster their options at the back.

The former Bolton player has made just six competitive appearances for Chelsea this term, with only 21 minutes in the Premier League.
