AC Milan signing Giroud: Ibrahimovic and I can have fun together

AC Milan signing Olivier Giroud is confident he and Zlatan Ibrahimovic can play in the same team.

The Champions League winner's move from Chelsea was confirmed on Saturday. Giroud has signed a two-year deal with the Rossonero, which have coughed up €2m to land the France centre-forward from the Blues.

There has been debate in Italy over whether Giroud and Ibrahimovic can play together. But the 34 year-old striker is confident he and the Swedish veteran can complement eachother in the Milan attack.

On new teammate Ibrahimovic, he told Milan TV via Le 10 Sport: "I have already played against Zlatan (Ibrahimovic) a few times. For me, the fact that he is still playing at 40 proves that he is an exceptional professional. At that age, you can't play without a lot of commitment to the team and determination. He takes care of himself ...

"I will try to do the same to enjoy football, if my body allows me. He is an example for the youngest. He's one of the best strikers in Serie A. I can't wait to play alongside him, I think we'll have fun. We will try to win something. With Zlatan, it's even better."

Giroud arrives at Milan as a Champions League winner in his last season with Chelsea and in the Premier League. He also helped his former club win the FA Cup, beating Manchester City at Wembley.

For season 2020/21, Giroud played 31 games, scoring eleven goals.
