OFI Ultras camped outside the former Milan midfielder's house after his resignation, waving banners urging the 36-year-old to stay, and reiterating their backing.
The show of support convinced Gattuso, who declared his return after crunch talks with OFI officials.
"I'll stay at my post," Gattuso told assembled media at the conclusion of the summit.
"There are a lot of problems to be solved, but after such a show of love I couldn't leave indifferent.
"For four months I've been doing my job as Coach, but at the same time having to solve various problems, even minor ones. It's too much.
"But a lot of affection has been shown toward me, and I never doubted that the squad was very supportive of me.
"Therefore, I've decided to stay."
