AC Milan coach Pioli says Maldini deserved debut in Verona draw

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli says Daniel Maldini deserved his debut in their 1-1 draw with Verona.

The Rossoneri could only manage a 1-1 draw, despite Verona having Sofyan Amrabat sent off.

Maldini, son of Paolo, made his Milan debut with several minutes remaining and Pioli stated: “The boy has quality, he has talent, and clearly talent alone isn't enough. I hoped that maybe he could have had the ball."

On the match, the coach also said: “We suffered justly, because we conceded six shots on goal to Verona and we should've been more careful," Pioli told Sky Sport Italia following the game.

“The regret is that we did not immediately take the lead when we had a sensational opportunity in the first half.

“We didn't have any sharpness when we had the numerical advantage in the second half. It's too bad that we couldn't have won even in a moment of difficulty, as we are missing so many players and Tuesday's efforts [in the Coppa Italia] made themselves felt."
