AC Milan coach Pioli admits defence needs to improve after Genoa draw

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli was left frustrated after their 2-2 with Genoa.

Pioli says his defence is now slipping too many goals.

“It's a draw in a complicated game, on a difficult pitch," Pioli told DAZN.

“We could take the lead in the first half and the match would have changed tactically. We gave it all and we took an important result.

“We allowed two goals without conceding much. In general, we are conceding too many goals. It was a tough game, the pitch didn't allow us to be precise technically, we tried to win it till the end, unluckily we didn't make it."

Matteo Gabbia, Ismael Bennacer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Simon Kjaer didn't play because of injuries.

“When you have five-six players out of action the team changes its characteristics, we didn't have many injuries before, by the way those who played did well.

Genoa defended well with [Paolo] Ghiglione, they created trouble for us but we kept the ball possession, we remained into the game, we played, there are absences but the team must give answers as they are doing, we are playing positive games, giving all we need to snatch good results,"
