AC Milan coach Gattuso on Juventus defeat: Our best display of 2019

AC Milan coach Rino Gattuso felt they paid for their errors in defeat to Juventus.

Krzysztof Piatek had the Rossoneri in front, but a Paulo Dybala penalty and late goal from substitute Moise Kean turned it around for Juve.

A frustrated Gattuso said, "It was our best performance of 2019, we lost it in the final 18-20 minutes not because Juve did well, but because of our mistakes. These things can happen when you play the kind of football we do.

“Even last season, we had a great performance at the Juventus Stadium and the biggest regret, aside from the incidents that the directors should talk about and not me, we were naïve.

“I believe strongly that the referees are in good faith, because if I didn't, then there would be no point doing this job.

“Juve changed after 20 minutes, tried to create more width, then moved to 4-4-2. Tactically and technically, we had a great game.

“We expected Joao Cancelo and Leonardo Spinazzola as wing-backs, so we couldn't sit back and let them run at us with that pace. We had to be aggressive and push them back with our full-backs, which we did. We showed courage and I appreciated it."
