AC Milan coach Rino Gattuso defended Gigio Donnarumma after their 1-1 draw with Fiorentina.
Milan had been leading 1-0 through Franck Kessie, but Andrea Masiello snatched a last-minute equaliser.
“I think we reacted and it wasn't easy coming to Bergamo, as Atalanta are a very strong side," Gattuso told Mediaset Premium.
“There are regrets, as a win would've sealed it today, but we showed a lot of character and it wasn't easy to put in this kind of performance."
Donnarumma was again unimpressive in goal.
Added Gattuso: “Let's not always put the blame on him. I don't think it was a mistake. It was a powerful header from close range. Gigio has to stay calm, he is 19 years old and gets judged for the money he earns, but you don't buy experience at a supermarket. Errors are part of the game."
