Barcelona technical secretary Eric Abidal says they won't pressure coach Ernesto Valverde about new contract talks.

The Frenchman highlighted the importance of the directors' support towards the 54-year-old tactician.

"The coach has a contract and he will make a decision, but I don't want to press him," he said.

"Neither does the president, as he has an important position within the club, and if we put more pressure on him it will be more difficult.

"We have to let him work in the best possible way.

"We value that he is a coach who has a lot of patience and who analyses everything very well.

"Then he adapts and plans, as demonstrated last year.

"We are here to help him, to have the team 100% all season and to achieve the goals we have set ourselves."
