Aberdeen pair McInnes, Rooney land February gongs

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has been named the SPFL Manager of the Month for February.

The 42-year old, who guided the Dons to glory in the Scottish League Cup on Sunday, saw his side win two of their three league fixtures in the second month of 2014.

McInnes had Aberdeen winning four of five matches in all competitions last month which prompted the SPFL to award him with the manager's award for February.

In addition, striker Adam Rooney landed the Player of the Month award after scoring four goals following his January move from Oldham Athletic.

The former Stoke City, Inverness and Birmingham City attacker netted in the League Cup win over St Johnstone, the league win over St Mirren and a loss to Partick Thistle and in the 2-1 triumph over league leaders Celtic.
