Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee is devastated after being told winger Sone Aluko faces up to 12 weeks on the sidelines. The Nigeria international's leg has been placed in a cast after a specialist in London examined his persistent Achilles problem.
Aluko's leg will remain in plaster for two weeks and the Dons will then hope to push the winger back to full fitness.
A statement on the club's official website read: "The initial prognosis is that Sone could face up to 12 weeks on the sidelines, however this is a worst-case scenario and it is hoped that he will make a full recovery sooner rather than later."
The 21 year old started both of Aberdeen's SPL wins this season but has missed their subsequent two defeats.
