Aarhus chief Bjornebye: How we convinced Wilshere to join us...

Liverpool hero Stig-Inge Bjornebye is delighted with Aarhus' Jack Wilshere transfer coup.

The former Arsenal and West Ham midfielder signed for Aarhus yesterday as a free agent.

Bjornebye is sports director of Aarhus and told VG: "We have some special contacts who made us aware that this could be possible. We have been working on it for the last few days and have had a good dialogue. Jack wants to play football and he is hungry and healthy.

"It was important for us to know what he was looking for. We could present a project that he liked. We have many young boys and a lot of exciting things going on. This was something Jack wanted to help build. Circumstances led us to find a solution.

"We have intentions that this will be a longer collaboration. We are concerned that we get quality, but also references in everyday training. He comes in with something completely his own. The man has played between 30 and 40 international matches for England. Now he wanted to get started again with football."

He added: "It's not the money that is Jack's ambitions. Of course, we do not pay Premier League salaries, but have laid the foundation that allowed us to get to this position."
