Football in Wellington has hit fever pitch ahead of the knockout semi-final between the Phoenix and Newcastle Jets next Sunday.
Club spokesman John Mitchell confirmed that 15,000 tickets had already been sold for the March 7 clash and many more pre-sales were expected.
"It's fantastic," he said.
"Although we get don't get anything for the gate sales... it certainly shows that there's a lot of interest in the Phoenix out there."
Because it is a final, Football Federation Australia get to keep all gate takings but it is a major positive for the club who are looking to beat last weekend's Westpac Stadium crowd of 24,278 who turned up to see their 'Nix defeat Perth Glory on penalties.
