Zheng Zhi reveling in Celtic move
China national team captain Zheng Zhi has revealed just how big his move to Celtic has become in his homeland.
The 29-year old midfielder signed with the Scottish giants in September and has spoken of the amount of coverage he has received in China in recent times.
"I've been waiting for this day for a long time," he told the club's official website.
"The standing of Celtic means that they are viewed as one of the top sides in European football – and all over the world.
"The reaction to the news back in China has been unbelievable."
Zheng made the move to Celtic from English club Charlton Athletic and said when he knew of the Hoops’ interest, he was eager to make the move to Celtic Park.
"When I heard that there was a chance for me to join Celtic, I jumped at it. It’s the perfect move for me at this stage of my career,” he added.
"I was at Charlton for a few years, but this is the perfect next step for me."I can't wait to join up with my team-mates and start my Celtic career."
