Xabi: Champions League as difficult as Liga for Real Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso admits it will be a battle to win either the Liga or Champions League this season.

Real were boosted overnight with Atletico Madrid's shock win over Liga leaders Barcelona.

But Xabi said: "I see just as difficult and feasible the two competitions. To win either of them you have to produce good performances.

"In the Liga you must be consistent because the distance that we have with Barcelona leaves very little margin for error. In the Champions League, you need six good games to get to the final.

"We must be as strong as possible in both."
